The aim of this Accessibility Guide is to give an accurate description of the facilities of Seacote Hotel and Seacote, Seven Acres and Tarnside Parks and the local area to people having Visual, Audio and Mobility disabilities.
General
All our properties are located on the fringe of the Lake District National Park, along the Western Coast of Cumbria. As such accessibility can be limited, although larger lakes and attractions will have better accessibility. Locally, Seacote is situated alongside St. Bees Beach. The promenade is flat, with sloping access and our own beach access Car parks have disabled parking spaces. The beach has a ramp leading down to the sand area but access for wheelchair and mobility aid users can be weather dependent as stones can shift to the bottom of the ramp. Tarnside also has ramped access directly from the park to the beach, but access is gained over a railway crossing. Details of our parks can be found on this web site or within our brochure, available on request. All our Parks are flat on their roads, grass areas and pitches without any ramps or steps within its facilities. Small slopes can be found whilst moving around the sites and there are steps to access some grassed areas, or to leave Seacote park by means other than the main entrance. The roads also act as paths therefore are easily seen or ‘Tapped’ by the partially sighted
Seacote Hotel has ramped or flat access to all main entrances into public areas. Some rooms are on the ground floor with walk in showers and there is lift access to upper floors. There is a chair lift available for access to restaurant and function room areas but food can also be served in the bar.
Roads
Roads within all our parks are limited to 10mph. The road system is small thus reducing the ability to speed. Speed bumps are not present, however the roads do wind to deter speeding.
Mobile Phones
All our properties are within an area of good mobile phone coverage. Please ask at reception if you need assistance or if you need to use the phone in the event of an emergency. We also have Wi-Fi available at Seacote Hotel and Seacote Park and in the Bar area of Tarnside Park.
Touring Pitches
All pitches are on level ground and most are hard standing with gravelled surfaces. At Tarnside and Seven Acres the pitches are large, and most with hedges between each pitch. There are pitches near to the amenities block at Seven Acres and Tarnside which can be requested for those that need them. All pitches at Seacote Park have water taps.
Touring Park Amenities
All amenity blocks have a separate space with disabled facilities. The doors are wide enough for wheelchair access with space internally to move around. Use of the facilities is free, including hot water. There is wet room shower with Anti-slip flooring is in place as well as support bars and an emergency alarm. A shower seat is also available.
Holiday Caravans
There are many holiday caravans on all of our parks with ramped access. At Seacote Park there is a specially adapted mobility friendly caravan. The caravan has features such as wider doors, hall ways, communal areas and bedroom space. It also comes with a wet room, with bars for support by the toilet area and a hoist in the master bedroom.
